Why are you changing system?
The Scottish Government procures the computer systems used in NHS Scotland, and has contracted with OneAdvanced to provide a system called Vision. EMIS Health has withdrawn from the Scottish market.
Will I be able to see a doctor during the changeover period?
We will offer a limited service for urgent matters, and doctors and nurses will be available. However, we will be working with a manual system, without the ability to issue printed prescriptions or record consultation details on the computer during the appointment.
Will I receive my test results during the changeover?
We expect to have very limited access to test results during the changeover period. Urgent information should still reach us, but routine results and letters may take longer to process once the new system is live.
Why can I not book appointments yet?
Our appointment book on EMIS will not transfer to Vision. We can only book appointments on the new system once it is commissioned and up and running, and then there will be a learning curve as to how to use the system.
Will the service you provide remain the same?
The clinical care we provide will remain the same. The main change is the way information is recorded, and this will remain secure. During the transition period, doctors, nurses and other staff will be learning and adapting to the new system, so some tasks may take longer. Please bear with us during this challenging period.
Can I order repeat prescriptions?
We will not be able to print ANY repeat prescriptions during the transition period, and ask that you check you have sufficient medications and order early to cover this period. After the transition, we will endeavour to start issuing repeat prescriptions as soon as we can, but there may be a delay whilst we establish working practices.
What should I do if I run out of medication during the changeover?
Please check your medication in advance and order repeat prescriptions early. If you unexpectedly run out of essential medication during the changeover period, contact the surgery for advice.
What about online prescriptions?
EMIS Access, which many patients have used, does not work with Vision. A new online system will be introduced, and we will share details when they are available.
